Natural
Nacozari Turquoise Rough:
Turquoise is a copper-based mineral
(hydrated copper aluminum phosphate). Turquoise polishes well with diamond,
tin oxide, aluminum oxide or green rouge. Natural turquoise is usually quite expensive,
but we found a source that was able to supply us with a limited amount of rough.
Natural Nacozari Turquoise Rough #1 Grade - $125/pound (~$.275/gram)
Locality: Sonora, Mexico

This top blue color material is natural and untreated in any way! #1 Grade Nacozari turquoise can contain some pyrite and has less tiny white spots and quartz inclusions than #2. It is generally more silicated than #2, but may contain a small amount of chalky rind. Finished cabs are stunning and should garner very high prices. NOTE: We also have Stabilized Nacozari Turquoise, which is easier to cut and polish than natural material. |

These are large pieces of #2 Grade Nacozari Natural Turquoise. This top blue color material is natural and untreated in any way! #2 Grade Nacozari turquoise tends to contain some quartz inclusions and has more matrix inclusions and white areas that will not polish. Finished cabs are beautiful. Although this is #2 Grade, it's great cutting material. This top blue color material is natural and untreated in any way!
